Derbyshire Labour is determined to listen to what older people want. At a public meeting last November, older people from across Derbyshire met Labour councillors and talked about their concerns.
Their worries were:
>that the DCC home help service is being sidelined and people are being pushed into the private sector for care at home.
>there is a threat to close most of the DCC residential homes and move to ‘extra-care’, where people have self-contained flats.
Derbyshire Labour believes people will always need good quality residential care. We will invest in a programme to refurbish and modernise our council-run homes, so people have a choice.
