Joan Dixon the Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy, Transport says that creating jobs is the key purpose behind a Fair Deal for Derbyshire.

260 jobs have been created in Derbyshire in the last month as a Northern Ireland based company is moving to Derbyshire County Council’s flagship employment site at Markham vale.

Ready Egg Products Ltd has selected Markham Vale off M1 junction 29A near Chesterfield to locate its new manufacturing facility which will create 50 new jobs over two years.

Ready Egg is a key player in the egg processing industry and supplies both UK and Irish food manufacturing markets.

Councillor Joan Dixon, our Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, said:

“We cannot sit back and wait for this Tory government to create jobs and growth in Derbyshire.  Their programme of cuts and austerity has already caused record unemployment and rising living costs.

That is why we are encouraging businesses to invest in Derbyshire and boost employment in our local economy. This means showcasing Markham Vale as the home for business, with its excellent transport links on junction 29A of the M1 in the centre of England.

This is all part of our practical plan for a Fair Deal for Derbyshire.  That means we are fighting for a Derbyshire that works, a living wage and proper training and apprenticeships.”
