Derbyshire Labour Promises Help When You Need It The Most

There are big cuts coming in April that will hit people hard. Tax credits, council tax and the ‘bedroom’ tax will affect thousands of Derbyshire people.

Labour will support advice services such as Derbyshire Unemployed Workers Centres and CitizensAdvice Bureaux and run a Quids In Campaign to make sure you’re getting all the help you’re entitled to.

Youth service petition organisers ask for a review

August 25, 2012

Following the shambles in the 18 April Council meeting that considered the petition signed by 16215 people against the Tories decimation of the Youth Service, the petition organisers Katie Hanson and Greg Roberts have requested a review into how the petition has been handled.  During the Council debate the Director of Legal Services overuled the Council’s Constitution to prevent any decision or vote being taken regarding the petition.  The Council’s Chief Executive, Nick Hodgson has ruled that the review should be heard by the Resources Scrutiny Committee.  Labour members did a brilliant job when the committee met on 24 May winning all of the arguments.

People Power forces Youth Service U-turn

August 25, 2012

It now looks pretty certain that Conservative controlled Derbyshire County Council is planning a massive U-turn on its Youth Service plans. The final report will confirm no compulsory redundancies for youth workers, no mass closure or transfer of youth centres and that DCC will continue to be a provider of universal youth services.
